What is iready?
Leilehua High School's iReady program is a two year early college program.
Year 1 - Students in the iReady-Junior class will develop and practice the necessary language and math skills to be college ready based on University of Hawaii- Leeward Campus's COMPASS placement test. Additional activities include researching college options as well as visiting college campuses. Students will complete and submit the Running Start (early college) application, as well as meet other UH-Leeward application requirements. The COMPASS test will be administered in the Spring and students will be enrolled, if eligible, in an online college course the following fall.
Year 2 - Students in the Kickstart class will be earn dual credit - 3 credits for the UH-Leeward and .5 credit for a Leilehua High School elective each semester. If funding is available, students and families may realize a reduction in and/or tuition waiver for the college credit. All college course credits earned are transferable to colleges and universities (ask the college for confirmation). Additional activities include visiting college campuses, listening to college speakers, applying for colleges and scholarships, preparing personal essays and interviews.
NOTE: Students who qualify for college level courses through other documentation (ACT/SAT scores, COMPASS test done individually) can enroll in the Kickstart class without having to take iReady1.
